In my opinion it depends on your friend and how their relationship ended. Although they may say it's okay they may still have feelings for them. That means that you're damaging you and your friends relationship everyday you go out with that said person.
Now what if said person still liked your friend? It would be very infuriating for you to think that they would be flirting behind your back.
It can cause nothing but trouble in the end. I see no way for it to end up good in any way.

I think you should never date your friend ex unless the friend say its ok. And it has to be like a long time ago when they dated.

I have dated quite a couple of my friends ex's and vice versa!
If it were to cause conflict, I wouldn't do it. I would rather make peace than to start a war. By the way, I like the picture that you use. Very funny.
